  1. High protein diet is recommended in hyperthyroidism because of significant loss of muscle mass in the body. Main sources of protein are pulses , legumes , beans, eggs, quinoa etc.
  2. Omega 3 fatty acid promotes the thyroid gland to function normally. Omega 3 fatty acid sources are nuts , salmon, Sardine , chia seeds , eggs etc.
  3. Vitamin D is an essential vitamin that supplies adequate calcium to the body and prevent bone loss.
  4. Zinc levels are generally depleted in the body due to hyperthyroidism. It is  advised to include sources that are rich in zinc such as brown rice, whole grains, millet etc.
  5. Osteoporosis is a serious complication associated with poorly controlled hyperthyroidism. Hence it is important to consume the necessary amount of calcium. For calcium include milk and milk products , almonds, figs etc.
  6. Antioxidants are also recommended because they help to replenish lost nutrients as a result of high metabolism associated with hyperthyroidism. include onion, pumpkin , carrot , spinach , seafoods etc.
  7. Few servings of berries on daily basis is recommended to strengthen the immune system.
